First Swans album remastered and re-released on vinyl and for download. First in a series of re-releases. Released in 1983, the band defined a genre all its own. Caustic and experimental, aiming to reshape the traditional structures of a then-stagnant music scene, we are here at the antipodes of the progressive leniency of the time. Underground to their core, the compositions are distinguished by the unease they exude, the profound anguish that drives them. Recognizable vocals, certain rhythms verging on an industrial ritualism ("Power For Power") that is perfectly alienating. The album's unique sound is partly the product of a new lineup featuring two drummers (Roli Mosimann and Jonathan Kane). It also marked the debut of Norman Westberg (guitarist).
