SUPERNAIVE is made up of two brothers, by blood and sound, who live between Paris and Tokyo, mixing electronic and acoustic music in a unique and delicate way. Following the success of their EP 'Dazed & Confused' in June 2017, they released 'Lions & Pigs' in April 2018, and are preparing for the arrival of their first album: 'Nekomata'. The brothers have chosen to embody two dreamlike characters with almost identical faces. Masks, synonymous with eternal youth in Japanese Noh theater, cover their faces, allowing the music to bring their poetic doubles to life. This first album, composed between Paris and Tokyo and named after the protean cat of Japanese bestiary, is SUPERNAIVE's most ambitious project to date: 13 eclectic tracks ranging from the roundness of "Dazed & Confused" to the saturated dissonances of "Lions & Pigs," with R&B, Pop, and Rock accents. The two brothers reconcile light and shadow here in an inspired and accomplished production. The use of old machines, exhumed from the graveyard of analog synthesis by our artist-archeologists, contributes to the bittersweet aesthetic, poetry, and sensuality of this album that you'll hum along to on the first listen and still discover something new on the tenth. While each track has its own identity, often reinforced by guest vocals, the sound signature has its own and gives the project its unity and density. Illustrated by dedicated graphic content, the tracks can tell their own story independently of the album's and are suitable for single releases. Four music videos accompany the release of Nekomata, for the tracks "Under Control," "Warrior," "Forget Me Now," and "Give Me Love." Directed by Antoine Bal (A$ap Rocky, MadeinTYO etc.) and filmed in Tokyo, Paris, and the South of France, these films beautifully showcase SUPERNAIVE's unique poetic universe. This album marks the starting point of their new Live Tour, which will begin in 2020.
