The Skokiaan Brass Band is releasing its second album, SKOKI MAMA, produced by three-time Grammy Award winner American producer Scott Billington (Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Soul Rebels, Solomon Burke, Irma Thomas...). Travels, encounters, and artistic collaborations in France, the United States, and West Africa have shaped the contours of a unique musical identity. Inspired by New Orleans brass bands, the Skokiaan Brass Band plays with funk, soul, jazz, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, even adding touches of highlife and Afrobeat. The album, recorded in France, New Orleans, Benin, and Ghana, pays tribute to Skoki Mama, whose spirit watches over the group's unity and inspires this unique sound, made to warm and brighten our times.
