Description
Six years before signing with Verve and finally becoming a household name, Shirley Horn already seemed fully mature and developed at this live trio concert. Recorded on July 10, 11 & 12, 1981, at the Northsea Jazz Festival in The Hague (Netherlands) with bassist Charles Ables and drummer Billy Hart, the pianist/vocalist performs nine well-known standards, including versions of "More Than You Know" and "Didn't Know What Time It Was" until the 1991 CD reissue. As usual, the focus is on ballads, including "Gee Baby Ain't I Good to You," "Baby Won't You Please Come Home," and the album's title track.
