In September 1959, drummer Shelly Manne and his "men"—Joe Gordon (trumpet), Richie Kamuca (tenor saxophone), Victor Feldman (piano), and bassist Monty Budwig—took over San Francisco’s Black Hawk club for a series of high-intensity bebop concerts.
This explosive first volume, which would be followed by three others, features extended and exuberant versions of Tadd Cameron’s standard “Our Delight” and George Gershwin’s timeless “Summertime.”
