"The Guesthouse," Shai Maestro's new album due out on March 6, 2026, celebrates collaboration, inclusion, and the art of hospitality. The pianist's most ambitious project yet, it brings together numerous guests—including MARO, Immanuel Wilkins, and Michael Mayo—around a rich soundscape blending voices, electronics, jazz, flamenco, and strings. A collective and poetic work, guided by a simple and luminous common thread.
“The Guesthouse is about collaboration, inclusion, and the very essence of hospitality, which is the essence of an open door. It's my most ambitious project to date, both sonically and compositionally. It brings together many incredibly talented people: some are at the forefront, playing music with me, sharing their vision, their time, their efforts, and their love; others, equally talented and hardworking, work behind the scenes, facilitating, enabling, and inspiring me to keep moving forward.
Musically, the palette of The Guesthouse is immense. It features many musical guests whom I deeply admire: MARO, Immanuel Wilkins, Michael Mayo, and many others. For the first time, there are lyrics, electronic instruments, guitars, trumpets, flutes, flamenco musicians, in-depth production work, my quartet, solo piano, odd-meter explorations, improvisations, tempo-less pieces, strings, two pianos in dialogue, and much more... I've delved as deeply as possible into these abundant waters.
The result is my attempt to transform the creative chaos that lives in my mind into a coherent artistic statement, guided by a simple melody as a common thread telling the story of this collective.”
