Edited for the very first time in France as a vinyl edition, rediscover 'The Dream Thief', Shai Maestro's first album for ECM.
On this opus, we find a solo interpretation of Matti Caspi's 'My Second Childhood' which opens the curtain on a program of Maestro's characteristic originals, each with a story to tell. Maestro's differentiated touch is special; he can convey a range of fleeting emotions in a single phrase. A deconstruction of 'These Foolish Things', the album's only standard, serves as a prelude to 'What Else Needs To Happen', a somber meditation on inner-city violence and its consequences.
