The sonorous, luminous and inspired poetry of one of the best guitarists of his generation. Let's let Scott DuBois introduce his new project: My idea for this album: to use three different quartets to create a conversation between contemporary classical composition and modern jazz improvisation with the general theme of autumn. I first composed twelve pieces for my jazz quartet, recording them in Copenhagen. Later, in New York, I composed, conducted and recorded works for classical string quartets to be superimposed over the previously captured jazz performances. The first piece is for a guitar solo. An instrument is added to each subsequent track, culminating in a finale with twelve musicians in which a series of twelve notes structures the entire composition. Other compositional techniques I used include random, minimalist and serialized rhythms, pitched and dynamic. I always focused on beautiful melodies and harmonies, suggested to me by the changes of the autumn season.
