Dark Territory

Description

Patience is a well-rewarded virtue in techno; finding the right groove to build on and then keeping your cool long enough to pay off the wait at the optimal moment is a far more skillful task than it seems for such a minimalist style. And few people demonstrate this talent better than the Detroit originals Scan 7. A member of the sacred Underground Resistance family, Scan 7 debuted in the mid-90s with a series of funky 12"s that showcased their sense of self-control—a faculty they have demonstrated in their releases year after year since. Highlighting this ongoing source of vitality, Tresor Records has returned to the source and is proud to announce the reissue of Scan 7's first LP, Dark Territory. First released on the label in 1996, the album has been remastered from the original DATs by Mike Grinser, enhancing already powerful tracks such as the serpentine and teasing Unusual Channel (mixed by the master Blake Baxter), resulting in music that will undoubtedly provoke a heightened response when the pressure is finally released. Reissued on vinyl with an updated sleeve, these tracks still sound like a blueprint for the future, a testament to the foresight and confidence that Scan 7 leader Trackmaster Lou clearly demonstrated when he wrote "I hope you enjoy my records in the time to come" in the liner notes nearly 30 years ago.
