Mad Gods and Englishmen

Description

Sabbat is an English thrash metal band from Nottingham founded by Martin Walkyier, Frazer Craske and Andy Sneap. They signed with Noise Records where they produced two landmark albums of their unique pagan thrash metal: "History of A Time To Come" (1988) and "Dreamweaver" (1988). The duo of vocalist and lyricist Martin Walkyier, combined with guitarist Andy Sneap's songwriting prowess, were ahead of their time and created two of the most important albums of the late 80s. This box set contains these two foundational studio albums, as well as a recently rediscovered Radio 1 session that preceded them, unavailable since its original broadcast in 1987. This collection is complemented by live performances (on CD or LP and DVD) and an accompanying booklet is provided with both the CD and LP formats of the box set. Limited five-vinyl + DVD box set. Includes a 32-page lyric book and a double-sided poster. This box set contains 'History Of A Time To Come' (LP), 'Dreamweaver' (LP), 'Live In Berlin' 1990 (2LP), and 'BBC Radio 1: Friday Rock Show Session' (LP), and 'The End Of The Beginning' (DVD). If the post-NWOBHM era produced very little from the British metal scene that could frighten the world, then Sabbat was a brilliant and terrifying exception. From Nottingham, they had the courage to abandon clichés and try a little experimentation and individuality in a musical style that seemed, at the time, based on the obvious. They signed with Noise Records where they produced two landmark albums of their unique, Pagan thrash metal; 'History Of A Time To Come' (1988) and 'Dreamweaver' (1988). The songwriting duo of vocalist and lyricist Martin Walkyier combined with the songwriting of guitarist Andy Sneap (now a producer in his own right and guitarist for Judas Priest) were ahead of their time and created two of the most important albums of the late 80s... This box set contains these two foundational studio albums as well as a recently found Radio 1 session that preceded them, unavailable since its original broadcast in 1987. This collection is completed by their historic performance at the Thrashing East Live concert in East Berlin from 1990, just as the Iron Curtain fell. It is presented here on DVD for the first time and also as an album of the show that is released in its entirety for the first time, including songs left off the DVD.
