« The Last Rider » is a collection of original songs by Ron Sexsmith that are alternately sad, happy, romantic, bittersweet, light, and full of spirit. This new album marks a different approach in Ron Sexsmith's recording process, as he recorded it at The Bathouse studio on Lake Ontario near Toronto with his touring musicians whom he knows perfectly: Don Kerr (Drums), Jason Mercer (Bass), Dave Matheson (Keyboards), and Kevin Lacroix (Guitar). The album was produced by Ron and Don Kerr, who are long-time friends and musical collaborators (since they met in the 80s when both were couriers). « I believe my sound has always been a combination of Folk and the "British Invasion Artists" that I have always admired, » explains Ron. « At this point, it has become like second nature for me to write short melodic songs that express everything we want to say. But the fact that my band was involved in this recording added something to these songs. Something special, at least that's how I felt. »
