Hesperia, a band from Italy formed in 1997, has received much praise for "Roma II". Doc Records reissues the previous album "Roma I (Caesar)" in three vinyl formats. The atmosphere of pagan black metal is palpable, less extreme but still pure and raw, with complex and frantic parts, as well as old school heavy metal vibes. The lyrics, mainly in Latin, offer an immersion into Roman history. Compared to bands like Absu, Thyrfing and Bathory, Hesperia adds an Italian touch with progressive nuances from the 70s, pagan atmospheres and an epic soundtrack.
