Ritual Howls' sixth album, Ruin, plunges listeners into a dark and captivating world from the very first notes of its single "Follow the Sun." Paul Bancell's reverberating guitar soars like a clarion, supported by Chris Samuels' pulsating kick and electronic percussion, while Ben Saginaw's distorted and taut bass adds a hypnotic depth. More than ten years after their debut, the trio refines their unique blend of industrial, gothic, and post-punk, producing a sound that is both dark and captivating, raw and mysterious. Hailing from Detroit, the band has always incorporated elements of early rave culture, offering a deeply physical experience through heavy, melodic, and meticulous compositions. After their previous album (Virtue Falters, 223), Bancell moved to Los Angeles, and much of Ruin was constructed remotely, before intensive recording sessions with their long-time engineer Adam Cox in Michigan. Despite the distance, Ritual Howls remains a deeply collaborative trio. Ruin confirms their mastery and creativity, demonstrating that the band is more than ever at the top of their game, capable of combining oppressive atmospheres and hypnotic rhythmic power with undeniable cohesion.
