Debussy... et le jazz

Description

A century after his death on March 25, 1918, many harmonia mundi artists wanted to pay tribute to Claude Debussy, magician of melody and timbre, great "colorist" and father of modern music. We also wanted to honor the author of Pelléas among those creators who, long before Louis Armstrong and Bill Evans, decisively influenced certain colors of jazz. So let us salute the initiative of the aptly named Quatuor Debussy which, with the collaboration of great jazz personalities, revisited the Préludes in its own way. And at the end of the work, what title would Debussy have chosen: "...note bleue"? Trembling with secret beauties, the music of Claude Debussy willingly harmonizes with the gesture of the jazzman. This meeting between a classical quartet and some renowned improvisers provides further proof of this. » Jazz Magazine
