Hurriya (We Must Resist)

Description

“Hurriya (We Must Resist)” builds a sonic bridge across the Mare Nostrum, connecting the shores of Naples and Tunisia. At the heart of this fusion are the voice and soul of Tunisian musician Ziad Trabelsi, whose Arab roots intertwine with the psychedelic and Mediterranean sound of ‘Psyché’. On this track, Afrobeat and Arab sounds meet to create a hypnotic journey, carried by Ziad’s oud, which weaves an evocative groove galloping like horses in the desert. The song echoes the ancient dominations and cultural exchanges that shaped Naples—a millennial crossroads of civilizations—where Arab and North African influences remain perceptible in the streets as well as in the music. "Hurriya," an Arabic word meaning "freedom," asserts itself as an anthem to resistance and resilience, a dialogue between East and West that dissolves rigid geographical and political borders. It is a collective song for the freedom of all peoples, against oppression, abuse, and injustice everywhere in the world. The single is available digitally from December 12 and in physical format, on 7” vinyl, from January 23. The B-side of the physical edition includes an extended and exclusive version of “Hurriya (We Must Resist),” available only in this format.
