Back with Memory Streams, their fifth studio album, which continues the journey begun with Knee Deep in the Sea, released in 2008. It’s a creative path that has seen the band embrace new technologies and explore ambient and electronic influences alongside minimalism, jazz, and beyond. Each album has seen the band expand its palette or explore new trajectories. They have never been a band to look back; each record has its own world, its own statement and meaning. Sonically, the album embraces the classic sound palette of drums, saxophones, and basses of Portico Quartet; however, the sound has evolved, becoming more modern while continuing to channel beauty and mystery. An album that situates their music in an era where we have free access to ever-expanding archives of images and ideas, Memory Streams both embraces and builds upon the unique music and legacy of Portico Quartet, firmly placing their music in the present.
