La naissance de l'opéra & la naissance d'un mythePhilippe Jaroussky inouï dans le personnage d'Orphée« You know my passion for Italian baroque music of the 17th century [....[ I conceived this project around 3 major operas, reconstructing a sort of mini-opera, a duet with choir, around the characters of Orpheus and Eurydice. Each opera indeed develops a part of the story: Sartorio and Rossi evoke the happiness of young lovers, as well as the scene of the snake bite; Monteverdi focuses on Eurydice's quest in the underworld, culminating in a unique aria in the history of opera, the magical "Possente spirto," which I dare to sing here in countertenor voice, for the first time on record. I would like to thank Diego Fasolis and Emöke Baráth, who agreed to participate in this project that I have dreamed of for so many years. »This album of infinite delicacy is to be marked with a white stone in the discography of Philippe Jaroussky.
