The first album featuring countertenor Philippe Jaroussky and guitarist Thibaut Garcia, À sa guitare takes its title from a melody by composer Francis Poulenc. However, its spectrum is extraordinarily wide, both culturally and stylistically. Its twenty-two tracks, of incredible subtlety, span four centuries and draw from the music of French, British, Austrian, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian, and Argentine composers (Caccini, Mozart, Barbara, Purcell, Granados, Fauré, Luiz Bonfa…). The two collaborators explore colors and sensitivities of their respective instruments rarely combined in the classical repertoire. Philippe Jaroussky and Thibaut Garcia become incomparable storytellers, attentive to every inflection of the texts they address, in a true fusion of words and notes. “The album aims to be a journey between different cultures, continents, and languages, where each piece represents a world in itself.” P.
