He performs an average of 100 concerts per year and travels approximately 100,000 miles annually under normal circumstances. As a highly sought-after "sideman", he has collaborated in the past with musicians such as the Marc Copland/John Abercrombie Quartet, Bobby Previte's "The Horse", the John Clark Octet, Robin Eubanks' 'Mental Images', and Marcel Khalife. Peter Herbert is also a versatile composer with works for various orchestras and chamber ensembles such as ensemble plus, SOV, ensemble absolu in New York; a recent work is his opera "Trans Maghreb" for the Bregenzer Festspiele 2014.
