Under the name Papercuts, Jason Quever has been producing timeless, guitar-driven dream pop since 2004, impervious to the trends and micro-genres that have come and gone around him.
Recorded shortly after Jason's return to the San Francisco Bay Area after several years in Los Angeles, this new album explores the tensions between the joys of coming home and the collective miseries of the pandemic and our current political upheavals.
The results are captivating, from the sunny pop harmonies of the lead single "I Want My Jacket Back" to the quirky space-pop of "Lodger" and the magnificent Bunnymen-esque "Palm Sunday."
It's a true testament to the resilience of the Papercuts project that after several acclaimed albums, Jason still has many new things to say, and continually finds new ways to say them.
