Description
*Emotion* is Papa Wemba's second album for Real World. It marked a turning point in the Congolese singer's musical career, moving away from the soukous style towards a more international African sound. On *Emotion*, a vocal-led album with rumba and salsa influences, including a cover of Otis Redding's "Fa Fa Fa Fa" sung in a duet with Juliet Roberts, Papa Wemba collaborated with Lokua Kanza, Jean-Philippe Rykiel, and British producer Stephen Hague. The album went gold in the United States, selling over 500,000 copies, and the artist was named Best African Artist in his category by the American press in 1996.
