The quartet Palatine makes a comeback with the beautiful EP "Talismanie," a collection of 5 songs about women and the changing contours of their representation.
Three years ago, *Grand Paon de Nuit*, their first album, made Palatine a precious friend, a serene guide, a happy intertwining of Timber Timbre, Nick Cave, Alain Bashung, and Jason Molina, leading to the formation of a solid core of loyal fans and unanimous critical acclaim. For "Talismanie," we find their mutant folk-rock with Americana melodic inflections, that vibration of wide-open spaces, those twilight atmospheres, that uninhibited lyricism, that languorous sultriness, that smooth, high-pitched, and penetrating voice. Less enigmatic and venomous than before, the flamboyance of the writing embraces a more direct, more frontal vision. Already evident in Palatine's repertoire, the theme of women and their reality thus fully absorbs this mini-album. A modern album of magnetic beauty.
