Nina Simone, real name Eunice Kathleen Waymon, born on February 21, 1933, in Tryon, North Carolina, USA, and died on April 21, 2003, in Carry-le-Rouet, Bouches-du-Rhône, France, was an American pianist and singer. She chose the first part of her stage name because of a Latin American lover whom she adored and who called her "niña" (girl in Spanish), and the second part of her stage name in homage to Simone Signoret. In 1987, her song "My Baby Just Cares For Me," from her very first album, was used in a commercial for Chanel No. 5 perfume.
