Music for Animals

Description

Nils Frahm has confirmed details of his new album, 'Music For Animals'. Comprising ten tracks and spanning over three hours, it's an ambitious and fascinating collection, unlike anything Frahm has released to date. While the 'Piano Day' initiator has completely foregone the use of a piano this time, he has remained true to his stylistic trademarks, which have recognized the artist's influential work over the past two decades. 'Music For Animals' unfolds at a tranquil, meditative pace and becomes a haunting and intense experience through the interplay of colors, timbre, and texture. "My constant inspiration," says Frahm, "was looking at something as fascinating as a giant waterfall or the leaves on a tree in a storm. It's nice that you can hear symphonies and other music that has a certain development. But the waterfall and the leaves don't need a first, second or third act or climax. Some people just like to watch the water fall, hear the rustling of the leaves and watch the branches move. This album is for them."At three hours long, 'Music For Animals' may seem daunting at first, but in fact, this voluminous work invites the audience to dive as deeply into its tranquility as they wish, appreciating it more or less attentively as needed. Or as Frahm says: "It all goes back to that waterfall. If you want to look at it, then look at it. If not, you don't have to. It will always be the same, but never quite the same." In fact, the greatest strength of 'Music For Animals': immediately recognizable and yet incomparable. The 3CD set is packaged in a cardboard sleeve and individual cardboard inner sleeves. The 4LP vinyl set comes in a single-pocket cardboard sleeve with anti-static poly-lined black inner sleeves.
