Gilles Peterson's label, Brownswood Records, is about to release "We Out Here", the new compilation featuring the biggest names in English jazz. From his earliest encounters with music, Gilles Peterson has always shown an unconditional love for jazz. A proud initiator of the acid jazz movement in the mid-80s, his interest in the genre has never waned. A new generation of artists and collectives is taking over the internet and making jazz a modern and attractive genre again. Emerging from the underground, with a DIY spirit, blending various influences such as afrobeat, hip-hop, house, and broken beat, the new English jazz scene resonates beyond its borders. Recorded over 3 intensive days, Brownswood presents "We Out Here" featuring 9 leading artists of the scene: Moses Boyd, Shabaka Hutchkins, Nubya Garcia, Joe Armon-Jones, Theon Cross, Ezra Collective. With 9 tracks by 9 reference artists, we imagine this new compilation becoming the centerpiece of the movement.
