Description

On this fifth album titled "Artémis," the influence of blues is more evident than ever, both in the themes addressed and in the form, without ever falling into an academic style but rather through the use of modal forms or open tuning, which is very common in blues (notably with Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones). The inspiration of Moussu T e lei Jovents is multiple and varied, ranging from Brazilian compositions to more pop forms, with a touch of Floyd bordering on progressive, all while never forgetting the song. The emphasis placed on acoustic guitar in the album gives this record a less electric dimension than "Putan de cançon," their previous work, while remaining resolutely rock! This time, it is the goddess Artémis who becomes the muse of Moussu T e lei Jovents. Artémis, goddess of Phocaea and protector of Marseille. She represents both the figure of the struggle for change, against exploitation, and the immutable image of motherhood and the warmth of home: an ambivalence that can be found in the group's work throughout the songs. This same principle also guided the Occitan troubadours of the Middle Ages (compositions of love songs and poems dedicated to the "Dame") and can also be seen in more contemporary artists. Their repertoire is a subtle blend of the softness of the climate and seaside landscapes, mixed with the harshness of shipbuilding and the smell of steel, all tinged with echoes of social struggles and battles. Once again, the group's favorite themes (whose perspective is sometimes very "masculine": war, steel, oil tankers) are expressed under the aegis of the protective and leading woman, Artémis, who logically succeeds the female figures already present in previous albums: the school crush in "Mademoiselle Marseille," the neighborhood girls in "Forever Polida," or the tomboy in "Home sweet home."
