SulaMadiana

Description

Mino Cinelu is a French musician born in 1957 in Saint-Cloud, in the Parisian suburbs. He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer, composer, but he is best known as a percussionist. The meeting of percussionist Mino Cinelu and trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær introduces us to SulaMadiana, a universe rich in colors, dotted with interstices and deep crevices, of timeless movements and manifestations... What a dream team: French percussionist Mino Cinelu with Martinique roots - and Norwegian trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer met most often at festivals around the world and kept planning to work together. Last year, they turned their plans into reality. Their joint album 'SulaMediana' reflects the different experiences they have accumulated over the decades. Cinelu brought his influences from Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Sting, and Kate Bush into the collaboration, and Molvaer, in turn, brought his Norwegian roots, which in recent years have always been expanded through a variety of collaborations such as with Moritz von Oswald or Sly & Robbie. The result is a multi-layered and very entertaining work that contains much more than 'Sula': the island on which Molvaer grew up and 'Madiana', which is another word for Martinique.
