Mayhem formed in Oslo, Norway, in 1984 and is infamous as one of Scandinavia's early purveyors of black metal, further cemented into legendary status after the well-documented 1993 murder of original Mayhem guitarist Euronymous. This live album was recorded at a show at the Rainbow Club in Milan, Italy, in November of 1998. The lineup features the return of early Mayhem vocalist Maniac, along with Hellhammer on drums, Necrobutcher on bass, and Blasphemer on guitar. The show also saw current Mayhem vocalist Attila Csihar guest on the track "From the Dark Past." Thanks to a well-captured sound and Hellhammer's remarkable drumming, the band themselves felt this album deserved to be considered an official release. Mayhem delivered a solid set, packed with classics like the early material from 'Deathcrush' and 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas', as well as the post-Euronymous compositions found on 'Wolf's Lair Abyss'. Expect nothing but dark, chaotic black metal carnage.
