Mayhem, the Norwegian pioneers who reinvigorated a global scene alongside initiators such as Venom, Celtic Frost & Bathory, formed in 1984, and with a long history of tragedy, intrigue and infamy, have become true black metal legends. Much of their legacy was established in the 80s and 90s when guitarist Euronymous and bassist Necrobutcher welcomed Hellhammer on drums and Dead on vocals, to help form a new era of darkness and Armageddon. Henhouse Recordings contains tracks from Mayhem's rehearsal sessions that took place at their rehearsal venue in 1989, with tracks from the Deathcrush album, as well as tracks that surfaced in 1994 on the band's debut album, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. An unreleased track is also included, parts of which would later be used by Norwegian legends, Emperor. Containing one of the few recordings of Mayhem on which the iconic singer Per "Dead" Ohlin sings before his suicide in 1991, Henhouse Recordings is another essential piece of Black Metal history, available on vinyl 30 years after the recordings were made. Henhouse Recordings is presented in vinyl format with the cover page featuring the Henhouse itself.
