Peu d'ombre près des arbres morts

Description

When we discovered the new songs by Orléanais, and particularly the lyrics and arrangements of "Désolé" and "Dans La Chambre d'Hôtel", we quickly understood that these new songs sealed the epilogue of "Peut-être Un Jour" (monopsone - 2014), the most personal and important album in Matthieu Laudanum Malon's rich discography. But it also marks a significant milestone in his long-term artistic journey. We'll have to wait a little longer to hear Malon's next album (but not too long, as it's already well underway). We bet it will contain some treasures on par with "Sur La Dune," which was directly inspired by the photos Stéphane Merveille provided for the album cover, while Matthieu was holed up in his home studio. By blending personal stories, fantasies, and extrapolations around these evocative clichés, this song is a marvel of latent melancholy, an ode to sadness, as only romantic rockers can imagine. As for the covers, Matthieu Malon achieves what he has long wanted to do by reinterpreting two cornerstones of his childhood/adolescence in French. First, with "Come Back And Stay," composed by Jack Lee but best known for Paul Young's rendition, which we listened to at parties in 1983. "Dansons Les Larmes Aux Yeux" is a reinterpretation of the Ultravox classic that played on repeat on MTV and still echoes in Matthieu's head on full moon nights.
