Norwegian double bassist Mats Eilertsen, well-known to fans of the ECM label, is back with a new album of 13 tracks. It’s 80 minutes of music representing a wide range of styles: lyrical flights, swing improvisations, and melancholic melodies. Veteran Tore Brunborg contributes highly inspired saxophone playing; Thomas Dahl, for his part, is intensely present, tuning his guitar to the other instruments and also delivering some inspired solos. Drummer Hans Hulbaekmo is a propelling force with his inventive, distinct, sparkling playing. The album is a continuation of previous albums "Radio Yonder" (Hubro 2009) and "Skydive" (Hubro 2011) and is released on Eilertsen's new label, Hemli. Mats Eilertsen has had a productive period in recent years with the release of the Mats Eilertsen Trio album "And Then Comes the Night" (ECM 2019) - which won a Norwegian Grammy - "Reveries And Revelations" (Hubro 2019), "Memorabilia" (NXN 2020) with Mats Eilertsen Trio and Trio Mediaeval. This autumn, he will also be featured on albums by Hakon Kornstad Trio ("For You Alone", Jazzland), The Source ("Bend Them Down", Grappa) and Trio Mediaeval ("Solarium", 2L).
