Under the sky of a reinvented New Orleans, Marion Rampal has shaped dazzling and simple songs. Betrayed loves, uprisings, storms, but the essence of Main Blue is the deep blue, the one that bathes the bayous and permeates all the music of the Mississippi Delta.
Marion Rampal, the songwriter, has an unwavering love for Jim Morrison, Patti Smith, Joni Mitchell, and song notebooks - in English - filled since adolescence. These are early Rock and Folk adventures followed by the encounter with Jazz and the great African American tradition alongside Raphaël Imbert and Archie Shepp. In 2009, she already surprised with her first album Own Virago.
During a meandering trip to the United States, rekindling memories, she composed the unique melodies of Main Blue.
Inspired by the French of Creoles and Cajuns, she created her "language of flowing courses." Her voice unfolds in a lively and libertarian back-and-forth between tradition and invention, haunting melodies and improvisation, contained emotions and a soul outpouring. The fairy drummer Anne Paceo and the Rhodes-Chief Pierre-François Blanchard stoke this fire of a powerful groove, nestled deep in time.
Main Blue celebrates the Blues as an art of embodying emotion. It is a crossroads of influence where songs, rhythms, and languages cross seas and descend rivers.
