Faithfull’s four previous 21st-century albums were all excellent, but this one eclipses them. That’s in no small part due to assistance from her co-writers Nick Cave, Anna Calvi, Ed Harcourt, Patrick Leonard, and Tom McRae. Her bandmates are also an all-star unit, and include Harcourt, Adrian Utley, Dimitri Tikovoi, Rob and Warren Ellis, and strings. Cave co-wrote one song with her (the tender “Deep Water”) and one for her: the glorious album centerpiece “Late Victorian Holocaust.” Give My Love to London is the most complete portrait of the artist — at least from the late ’70s forward — that we have ever had. In sum, it reveals no slackening in her creative renaissance.
