Broken English

Description

In 1979, Broken English undoubtedly marked Marianne Faithfull's big comeback. Between addictions and detox treatments, the 60s icon, plagued by her demons, was emerging from a somewhat chaotic period. The voice of the famous interpreter of "As Tears Go By" had changed. It had become hoarse, revealing pain and excess. Marianne Faithfull delivered an album tinged with punk rock and fragility, undoubtedly the major album of her career. This album features the classic "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" (covered, among others, in the soundtrack of Thelma and Louise) and the exceptional version of "Working Class Hero" (John Lennon).
