One would readily believe the two young Antibes residents from M83 when they claim to have discovered the childlike and magical tinkerings of Aphex Twin or Boards of Canada after recording their refreshing debut album. When they left what they considered a straitjacket – noisy-rock played as a trio – these kids, working as a duo, discovered the joys of the sampler while retaining an attraction to hypnotism. Fascinated by galaxies – M83 is one – Anthony and Nicolas clearly keep their eyes on the stars when they touch their synthesizers, dreaming of composing a new soundtrack for "2001: A Space Odyssey". A small electro-pop flare-up aside, their album prefers to languidly float, sketching swirls in a radiant sky. The horizon is so clear that one will often be tempted to engage autopilot to reach the land of dreams...
