"They hate poets." This is the French translation of "Oderunt Poetas," a quote from Horace and the title of the new album by Lucio Bukowski and Oster Lapwass, the two spearheads of L'Animalerie. After sixty days of intense creation without artistic barriers or constraints, they have given birth to this thirteen-track album, available on June 3, 2016. One might label this project "alternative rap," but they prefer to speak of free music. Because for over ten years, Lucio Bukowski on the mic and Oster Lapwass on the MPC have been doing whatever they want! Behind the alias Oster Lapwass is Yann, a passionate and prolific beatmaker. His wide musical range spans from electro to classic boom-bap, sometimes touching on grime. For his part, Lucio Bukowski, aka Ludovic—with over twenty projects under his belt in six years—offers rap that is as technical as it is poetic, always serving a relevant message. With Oderunt Poetas, these Hip-Hop artisans deliver what they do best. L'ANIMALERIE A group? No. A crew? Not really. A collective? Almost. L'Animalerie, much like Mafia K'1 Fry in the mid-90s, is a "gathering" of talented artists brought together by Oster Lapwass under the lion's head banner. Each artist or group develops personal projects without radio promotion or "world company" interference. L'Animalerie has, through the strength of its talent, placed the city of Lyon on the chessboard of French rap.
