Formed in 1961 by the legendary brothers Pedro Jairo Garcés and Guillermo León Garcés, Los Golden Boys quickly rose to the top of the Colombian tropical music scene by combining the popular influences of rock and twist with cumbia, gaita, porro, and other local styles. The band recorded several hits for the Discos Fuentes label, until the tragic death of the brilliant electric guitarist Pedro Jairo in 1972 ended the existence of the original lineup. Cumbia De Juventud is a newly remastered collection of twelve of their golden age's most powerful songs! Focusing on gritty, driving cumbias that showcase the talents of the Garcés brothers, this album is filled with haunting melodies in minor keys, thunderous percussion, sinister guitar and Solovox solos, a massive bassline, pulsing horns, and a soaring beach party atmosphere under a persistent cloud of angst and teenage gloom.
