"Reanimation" by Linkin Park is a curious object indeed. In fact, the band, tired of attracting high schoolers with its sanitized grunge and enduring the acerbic jeers of a more mature audience, decided to restore its image by claiming hip-hop credibility with this new album. To do so, a string of DJs - including Kutmasta Kurt, Alchemist, and Jay Gordon - were tasked with remixing tracks from Linkin Park's first album, "Hybrid Theory," in an attempt to transmute them into violent bursts of uncompromising hip-hop. The result is appealing, temporarily making one forget the band's infantile grunge-metal, but it certainly won't win over Linkin Park's die-hard fans.
