This 7-inch record contains the third and fourth songs released as part of the #PittLibresBonus operation, which involves making new Pitt Ocha tracks by Les Ogres de Barback available on platforms before releasing them on vinyl in this unique format.
Side A:
"Perle rare." Built on the melodic basis of a traditional Armenian song, this track is introduced by a duduk [a typical Armenian instrument] and a clarinet, later joined by strings, a piano, and a flugelhorn. This rich instrumentation, once again, opens a window to a unique musical horizon. Performed by the "ogres' daughters" [daughters of Les Ogres], the melancholic vocals and choruses convey a dark text that evokes the fate of migrants who died in the Mediterranean during their crossings to reach Europe in search of a better future. All proceeds from this track will be donated to SOS Méditerranée.
Side B:
"Cap' ou pas cap'?" Les Ogres have long been open to various world music styles, including Brazilian forró, which they had never dared to try before. This is now done, humbly, on this track where the Burguière siblings are accompanied by Poplitê – a group of five singers and percussionists passionate about music from Northeast Brazil – and Cédric Pierini, a virtuoso of the diatonic accordion and specialist in various traditional aesthetics. The collective and joyful singing serves a playful text that tours South American capitals. This song is a new invitation to travel and dance, continuing to explore the discovery of other musical cultures.
