Two years after the magic of "univers-île", the producer returns with a project he never even dared to dream of and the creation of his own orchestra: the Orchestre univers. "To sum it up, I was lent the Orchestre National de la Réunion, made up of about forty musicians, whom I watched play, listened to carefully, and also spoke with at length. I kept twelve of them, deliberately reduced the orchestra to a few instrument families, and that's how the Orchestre univers was born, along with the writing of the pieces. I recorded our conversations, took notes, which I later cut up and integrated into the compositions on the computer." The fruit of all this activity, Labelle's third album, custom-composed for the Orchestre-univers, was thus recorded live during four concerts, given in four corners of the island and in the most beautiful theaters of Réunion. Accompanied by the Orchestre univers, a guest conductor: Laurent Goossaert, and the Indian guitarist Sontakke, the album revisits three tracks from Labelle's discography and offers seven new ones, giving his music a new dimension, where all the producer's obsessions jostle like free electrons released into the vastness of the galaxy. "Orchestre-Univers" increasingly brings Labelle's compositional work closer to the obsession with repetition orchestrated by American minimalists like Steve Reich or Terry Riley, while offering the concept of world music its most beautiful rebirth.
