"Violent Revolution" is the tenth studio album by the German thrash metal band, originally released in 2001. In some ways, the album harks back to the band's early glories, yet it doesn't sound at all nostalgic. The performances and production values are very much a part of contemporary times, and the strength of the compositions themselves is of the highest caliber. Rising to the challenge posed by a new generation of ambitious metal bands, Kreator proved that they were far from a spent force. Unlike many of their peers, here was a band that still had plenty of creativity to offer and was also clearly excited about what they were doing. And when you hear the band themselves enjoying the whole process, then you know it's a true revitalization. "I think it's one of our strongest albums," says vocalist and guitarist Mille Petrozza with conviction. "We picked up on what we had done on 'Coma of Souls' and 'Extreme Aggression,' but it wasn't about repeating it. No, we also added modern metal elements to the sound. It was a new era for Kreator. A rebirth, if you will. And the beginning of what I would call our second career."
