The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari

Description

The musician and writer Karl Bartos has long been an admirer of the culture of the Weimar era. During his time as a member of Kraftwerk, he contributed to the creation of the astonishing track "Metropolis," directly inspired by the group's viewing of the classic film of the same name, directed by Fritz Lang in 1927.The original orchestral music composed by Giuseppe Becce for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari had been lost for a long time, and in 2005, after watching the film, Bartos imagined what it would be like to create entirely new music for the 21st century in his own studios in Hamburg. Today, with crystal-clear images, digitally restored by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau Foundation, the film is visually of the highest quality it has ever been, and now, with Bartos's soundtrack, there is an impressive sound to accompany the haunting vision.
