Karamoko Diabaté, known as Kara, is a member of the large Diabaté family from the Ségou region. His first instrument was the djeli ngoni, which he learned from his grandfather Madou Diabaté. He began his musical career very early with his uncle Bafing Diabaté, who is one of the founding fathers of Tasidoni, a musical genre born from the fusion of Bambara and Fulani music.
