Following "Et le vent?", Jumo continues his sonic and visual explorations with a new long-form release: "memory". From archival images gleaned from the depths of the web to house and techno sounds extracted from old electronic machines, the producer manipulates traces of the past to create a resolutely contemporary work. In "memory," recollections serve as fuel for dance and reflection, far from any nostalgia or artifice. Jumo, whose real name is Clément Leveau, is a producer, composer, and visual artist from Angers. Self-taught, he has developed a unique universe blending atmospheric electronic music and visual experimentation. Discovered by Nowadays Records, he gained recognition with a series of EPs and singles, including "Aléa," "Nomade," and "Ville." In 2021, he released his first album, "Et le vent?", collaborating with numerous artists such as Léonie Pernet, Pénélope Antena, Awir Léon, and Hyacinthe. His style, both melancholic and impactful, is asserted through tracks like "L'Exode," "Première Vie," and "Minuit," which illustrate his taste for ethereal sonic textures navigating between softness and urgency. With several million streams on streaming platforms, Jumo has established himself as a key figure in the French electronic scene. Alongside his musical projects, he co-founded the Cela collective, through which he explores the links between music and visual arts, thus reinforcing his multidisciplinary approach. Jumo is now also turning his attention to composing film and documentary scores, bringing his unique sound signature to cinematic projects. He notably composed the soundtracks for the documentaries "La Flamme Ukrainienne" and "Comme si j'étais morte," marking a new stage in his artistic journey. Always in search of innovation, he is now taking a more club-oriented turn, inspired by 90s techno and IDM, while continuing to explore the boundaries between electronic music and visual narration. In his first single, "phili," Jumo shares his nostalgia through memories of youth and adolescence, rhythmically punctuating the track like blurred fragments or flashes. As he writes, he focuses on the sensation where all these memories, in their multitude, eventually blend together and then fade, but to which we all try to hold on a little. The poetic dimension of the track evokes this sometimes melancholic nostalgia, particularly through the use of certain sounds (synthesizers and drum machines from that era). However, the insistent bass accompanied by a powerful kick creates a sense of joyful urgency, as if not to forget. To live in the moment rather than dwell on memories. "tgthr" was born from this reflection. Inspired by the sounds and textures of 90s techno and house, "tgthr" blends raw and organic sounds, marked by the sharp kicks of the 909 and the saturated, sometimes soaring textures of the MS20. Like some of his other tracks ("Et le vent?", "L'Exode," etc.), this one begins with a long, progressive build-up leading to a sustained kick and a minimalist bass, where elements are added one after another, moving from melancholy to euphoria, and building tension until the end. "lula" is a nearly eight-minute sonic journey, raw and cinematic. Jumo composed it like a road movie, inspired particularly by David Lynch's cinema and his cult film, Wild at Heart (Sailor & Lula). The track is structured into three acts: the first part plunges us into a dark and intense atmosphere, halfway between cold wave, post-punk, and raw techno. Then comes a long, ethereal, and disorienting bridge, marked by a deconstructed lead with hard dance and gabber accents. This is the transition that gives way to light: the main theme reappears, transformed and carried by a new bass harmony. The track then rises in an euphoric, liberating, almost cathartic final ascent. A breath of hope at the end of the turmoil. "sirens" consists of synthetic voices that progressively overlap, until they form a whole, becoming a single hypnotic and intoxicating theme, a soft and unreal cry that would almost make us forget who we are and what we are doing there. "sirens" is the song of free souls who dance, who are drawn to each other and flee a sometimes difficult reality, it is the echo of a suspended moment, between a desire for escape and the fear of falling back. As in Greek mythology, when we listen to the song of the sirens, we forget ourselves, we let ourselves be carried away.
