After "The Queen" and "The Hen," the Concert de la Loge, the orchestra on period instruments led by the violinist Julien Chauvin, continues the complete set of Haydn's Paris Symphonies with No. 82 nicknamed "The Bear." It is here coupled with two rare works composed by French contemporaries of Haydn, musicians from the Concert de la Loge Olympique founded in 1793 - the commissioner of the Paris Symphonies and an illustrious model for Julien Chauvin's ensemble. We thus discover the Concertante Symphony for bassoon, natural horn, flute, and oboe by François Devienne and the Concertante Symphony mixed with patriotic airs for two violins by Jean-Baptiste Davaux. This third volume offers a dive into the heart of a typical concert program of the 18th century French musical era, a time of virtuosity full of mischief.
