Johannes Pramsohler and Philippe Grisvard present here a second duo album, this time dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach and his circle. After being praised by critics for their "irresistible" interpretation, "of an infinite richness of discoveries," they illustrate how Bach's influence was exerted on the violin music of his time, thus demonstrating that even after his death in 1750, a long and solid violin tradition, bearing future promise, was far from having dried up. Among the chosen works are two world premiere recordings of Johann Gottlieb Graun and Johann Ludwig Krebs. Johannes Pramsohler was born in South Tyrol. After his training in London and Paris, he is invited as a soloist and first violin by orchestras such as Concerto Köln, The King's Consort, Le Concert d'Astrée, Arte dei Suonatori, and the European Union Baroque Orchestra. Today, he mainly performs with his Ensemble Diderot. Since 2012, he has also played with Concerto Melante at the invitation of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Johannes owns the violin of Reinhard Goebel, a P. G. Rogeri (1713). Philippe Grisvard was born in Nancy. He studied with Anne-Catherine Bücher. In 1999, he was accepted at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, in the harpsichord and continuo class of Jesper Christensen, and the fortepiano class of Edoardo Torbianelli. Today, Philippe lives in Paris and is called to play with Poème Harmonique, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Les Musiciens de Saint Julien, La Fenice, La Chapelle Rhénane, Le Cercle de L'Harmonie, Les Nouveaux Caractères, and Opéra Fuoco and Le Concert d'Astrée.
