The famous composer from Brooklyn, Joan As Police Woman, returns with her new album "Cover Two" This is the second album on which the singer covers songs by other artists and, once again, Joan makes very interesting and surprising choices. About the new album, she tells us: “I started working on new covers since the release of the first cover album 11 years ago! I performed "Kiss" by Prince and my version of "Out of Time" by Blur throughout the Joanthology tour last year and I finished the record as soon as I got home this winter. Recreating existing songs is a rewarding creative challenge for me, especially with the songs I love. I start with the question "Why, exactly, do I love this song"? I take those elements and rephrase them, sometimes removing a large part of the remaining material to refocus them using new lenses. I reharmonize the chords, I radically change the feel or I shift the hook or phrasing to reconstruct the composition.”
