Mo7It Al-Mo7It

Description

Jerusalem In My Heart (JIMH) is first and foremost a performance, blending electronic and contemporary Arabic music with 16mm film projections, exploring the relationship between music, visuals, projections, and the audience. JIMH was formed in 2005 by Lebanese artist Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, who spent a significant part of his life in Quebec, establishing himself today as one of the pillars of Montreal's independent music community since his beginnings in punk bands in the 90s. JIMH is now a trio comprising Moumneh, French musician and producer Jérémie Régnier, and Chilean visual artist and filmmaker Malena Szlam Salazar. Two years of collaboration led to the co-creation of their first album, Mo7it Al-Mo7it. By marrying classical Arabic-style melismatic singing with contemporary electronic compositions, Jerusalem In My Heart forges modern experimental Arabic music. Mo7it Al-Mo7it is an intimate album. Moumneh's voice has become a real instrument, and his production techniques, playing with distortions, echoes, and delays, succeed in creating a timeless intensity.
