Near to the Wild Heart of Life

Description

AFTER FOUR YEARS, THE VANCOUVER DUO IS BACK WITH A HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM. The duo Japandroids, formed by Brian King and David Prowse, started in 2006 in Vancouver with a lineup that remains the same today: drums, guitar, and two voices. And yet, the fervor of Brian and David gives the impression of listening to a 5-person band. Following the release of their second album, Celebration Rock, in 2012, the band embarked on what seemed to be an endless world tour, playing over 200 concerts in more than 40 countries. Their last show took place in Buenos Aires in November 2013. Their third album, Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, was clandestinely written in Vancouver, Toronto, New Orleans, and Mexico City. It was recorded —primarily— at Rain City Recorders studios in Vancouver. The single 'Near To The Wild Heart Of Life' has already been released, accompanied by a cover of Talking Heads' 'Love Building On Fire'. Like the previous two, this album consists of 8 tracks. Because that's the format of great rock'n'roll albums. Also like the previous two, the album was specifically sequenced for LP. In Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, Side A (tracks 1 to 4) and Side B (tracks 5 to 7) each follow their own well-defined logic. Taken together, the structure is even more visible, with a final track on Side B serving as an epilogue. If Celebration Rock was the culmination of something, then Near To The Wild Heart Of Life can be considered the beginning of something else. For fans of: Weezer, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Cloud Nothings, No Age...
