DIASPORAS

Description

The first part of this triptych was created between 2003 and 2007. Following his discovery of the unique world of singer Lhasa de Sela, and after collaborating with her on an album and on stage, Ibrahim realized that the sound of his trumpet could evolve in an environment that suited him better than just classical music, jazz, or Arabic music alone. Little by little, over the years, a sound was built that he gradually refined in the studio between Montreal, New York, Beirut, and Paris. At the time, it was musician and producer Vincent Segal who had introduced Ibrahim to Lhasa, and logically, Vincent is featured on the last track and bonus of this album. Ibrahim had showcased his compositions and his world for the first time here. Immediately acclaimed by critics, this album had a snowball effect, and concerts followed one after another, marking the very first tour of Ibrahim's band.
